French Runners Look To Spoil Di Capua
A trio of French-trained runners invade the San Siro for Sunday’s G1 Premio Vittorio Di Capua, the championship event for milers in Italy. That group is composed of the veteran Group 3 scorer Spoil The Fun (Fr) (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}); the 4-year-old Bookrunner (Tiznow) and the 3-year-old Mind That Boy (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}). The home team is led by Kaspersky (Ire) (Footstepsinthesand {GB}), the winner of the G2 Premio Carlo Vittadini in May. Trainer Endo Botti won this race in his days as a jockey with the champion Ramonti (Fr), and he is optimistic about his charge. “Kaspersky has had a perfect training path and the good ground is very important for him,” he said. “He’s drawn the outside gate but I think this could be a blessing in disguise because his jockey, Andrea Atzeni, will have more tactical options.”
The main dangers for Endo Botti are the horses trained by his cousins, Stefano and Marco. The first will saddle the up-and-coming 3-year-old Circus Couture (Ire) (Intikhab) and the Group 2 winner Porsenna (Ire) (Lawman {Fr}). Marco will send from his Newmarket yard Fanciful Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), the runner- up in the G2 Mehl-Muhlens Rennen (German 2000 Guineas).
